Shane. Shane was...always there. He was something even I couldn't figure out. Yet, he was the most simplest thing in the world. He always wore suits--the very expensive types--even while he tried to cook. His cooking...the messy work, everything, and not a single smudge on his clothes. Always impressive. My boss was none the less. Yet...he had...this problem. What? Well...he was obsessed with...Apollo Justice.
Yes, the boy who had Cords of Steel. The uprising attorney who had saved my boss from going to jail. You see, he was accused of stealing our competition's secret recipe and murdering the owner. Truth be told, it was the owner's daughter who wanted to give Shane the upper-hand because of her crush on him. Sadly, he never returned her feelings. HE DID give all his attention to the boy though. Poor thing. Shota obsession...oh my.
"Hey, Sakumei. Why are you writing in that stupid journal? Get back to register!" He yelled at me. Nodding, I made my way back and smiled. He was always a bit jumpy...I'd ask, but employees have nothing to do with their employers. "I am sir!" I giggled softly, watching the regulars eat their sandwiches and drink their coffee.
I looked on the corner of my light gray eyes and there was...a man? Woman? Hard to tell in the daylight because of their big overcoat but they seem to be watching my boss. "Erm...boss?" I tried calling but he was preoccupied with baking at the moment. I walked up to that person and smiled warmly like I would to all the costumers. "Irrashaimase! Welcome to ChanCakes how may I help you?" I asked a bit girlishly and bowed at the costumer. No response. Odd. I continued smiling and handed them a menu.
"Today's special is--" "Sakumei get down!" He yelled again as I instinctively fell and watched as my boss jumped in front of me. "Who let this in?" He coughed a bit. Wow...my boss being serious? How odd. This day was very weird. He took out what seemed to look like a huge pill--or something because I'm not so good at descriptions--and shoved it into the costumer's--or whatever it was--face. A terrible, loud, screeching noise emitted from the costumer--WHATEVER--and it disappeared...only leaving it's clothes. "Eh...what's going on..better call Makoto here." He yawned, as if the whole incident..as if it never happened. "B-b-b-b-boss...w-what was--" "Hello? Yeah, it's me. Not this time. It appeared in daylight. That's what I'd like to--fine. Hurry up Makoto. Yeah. Ja na." And with that he hung up and walked back into the kitchen.
What was wrong with him? There were costumers ...wait. T-they weren't paying attention!! B-but how?! IT WAS SO DAMN NOTICEABLE. I ran after him, caught his sleeve, and frowned. "Boss! What was that costu--thing?! How come no one noticed and who's Makoto!?" I screamed loudly as the costumers turned their heads to listen. Blinking, he turned around to face me with a deadly smile. Something I haven't seen since he was apprehended that day. "Thing? What thing? I don't--" "Damn straight you do." I growled before he could finish.
Now, he was just pissing me off. I mean, Shane--Boss was always like that--lazy, ignorant, and a bit pedo--but when he DARES ignore the fact that he beat a "thing"--for I seriously don't know what to call it anymore--then that will seriously piss me off. Then, he sighed and chuckled. "You're so cute when you get all worked up Sakumei~" He teased lightly. I blushed, of course, but didn't let what happened go. "It was a konpaku." "K-konpaku?! AS IN GHOST?!" I shouted again, driving attention, then he led me inside the kitchen.
"Yes. You see, your boss has more of a fair share when it comes to working. That's why I have such silky suits that fit me with suck grace, chic, and perfec--" "I get the point boss. But...ghosts? They roam at night right? I mean, they...don't exis--" "That's where you're wrong. They do exist, you just have to find them. As for the nighttime thing...you're right. Hardly find 'em in the day." He yawned as we both heard the door open.
"Irrashaimase! I'll be there in a--" "SHANE!! WHERE IS...it?" He asked--probably for the ghost--and then blushed. "Wow...she's cute...is she the ghost?!" He gasped, poking my arm. I twitched a bit. What was in his coffee this morning? "No, sir, I am not. I'm his employee." I stated before slapping his hand away. "Ooooooooooh~ You're Sakumei right? It's a pleasure to have finally meet you!" He chuckled, extending his head. At first, I was deeply unsure weather to shake his hand but if boss knew him, then I guess it'd be okay. "Thank you. I've only heard about you recently Makoto-san." "R-recently?" He sounded a bit heart-broken. "Yeah. The only time was when boss was talking to you earlier...and that's it." I chuckled, hoping that his feelings weren't hurt or anything. Poor dear. "Aww, Shane?! Why haven't you talked about me before?" He sniffed. "Don't have to. She never asked what other jobs I did anyways." Shane said, batching up another cake. Again, no smudge.
"O-other jobs?" "Yeah. He works with me at a Paranormal Agency~" Makoto chimed proudly. "Oh? On his day off right?" I asked. Of course he would. I mean, he worked with me most the time and when he was off...well, that was his own business. I didn't think Shane liked such things. Goes to show how much I know about my boss. "Yup. And at night he's a--" "Okay, okay. How about you two eat this cake, and I go batch another one for the costumers, hmm?" Shane interrupted, shoving Makoto out of his way with a smile.
"By the way Sakumei, why do you look...so rare?" He asked softly. "R-rare? Like an animal?" I asked back. "N-no! What I meant to say was...how come you have gray eyes and white hair? Is it really natural?" He stuttered, waving his arms frantically. "Y-yeah...Why, do I look like an Albino or something?" I giggled back. "N-no!!" He jumped again. Heh...knowing how boss puts it, today will be a very long day for me and Makoto.
